Chronicles of Froissart (Froissart's Chroniques)
The historical memoirs of Froissart detailing the diplomatic, military and chivalric affairs of England, France and Spain during the Hundred Years War , chiefly from 1320 - 1400. Froissart was widely traveled, but the Chroniques are of dubious historical value, though since Froissart himself was popular at the English court, it can be expected that they reflect the perceptions of the chivalric classes. Written in French, the Chroniques have been reprinted many times and are easily available to students of medieval culture. The most available edition is by Penguin Books, while the most complete editions were released in the 19th century by Kervyn de Lettenhove, huge volumes containing more than 4,000 pages of very small print.
