Holy Roman Empire
A new instance of the old Roman empire in the West, the Empire was established in 962 under Otto I, a reincarnation of Charlemagneâs old empire established in 800. The Empire was what we today consider modern day Germany, the âEmperorâ being elected by the German princes , holding land in both Germany and Italy.
